Moonrise Kingdom
I’ve seen it twice, both times in the local art house theater. The previews included trailers for Take This Waltz and Beasts Of The Southern Wild as well as a promo for HBO’s summer documentary lineup and Rachel Maddow talking about renewable energy sources. Okay, theater, you are smarter than me. I get it. And I love it.
Most of the time movies involving adult romances remind me of being a teenager, but this romance of two children reminded me of adult relationships. “I love you but you don’t know what you’re talking about.” Sums up at least fifteen percent of all my conversations.
I loved the movie and I loved seeing it with such a reactive audience. The treehouse, the ear piercing, and the lefty scissors fucking slayed me and everyone else. It’s beautiful, it’s funny, and it’s Wes Anderson. Go forth and see it.
